It is my pleasant duty to present to you the President’s Annual report for 2015/16 and what a year of change it has been.
The DANTI committee has had to work with the Dragons Abreast Australia (DAA) constitutional changes. To incorporate or not to incorporate being one of the more difficult aspects for our small club to manage. I am pleased to say that all requirements have been met which will allow us to present an updated constitution to you for approval today. This constitution should cover us for now and in to the future.
My thanks go to the committee for their hard work over the long months it has taken to guide us in to this solid working condition.
Fortunately this heavy background did not deter members from taking their places in our Masters Games crew in Adelaide last October and the experience flowed over to Dragons on the Esk – our Dragon Boat festival in November; what a start to the summer season.
In January the St Helens regatta saw members in attendance, lots of come and try participants and a successful weekend had by all.
Lake Barrington in February was the usual busy weekend with an almost full participation by the club.
Summer paddling with us out on the water three times a week kept everyone together until the end of daylight saving meant out on the water on Saturdays only and land based activities until the next season.
Winter flooding has put a temporary stop to Saturday paddles due to the pontoon damage but with the help of Deloraine some Sunday paddles on the Four Springs Lake have been arranged and very much enjoyed.
DANTI members have helped with fund raising through our Bunning’s Barbecues, our salute to men’s health in November when lots of interesting facial disguises were sported on the river. The Christmas paddle raised funds for the Empty Stocking fund. Thank you everyone for participating.
Members gave assistance with the Four Bridges paddle in February and our presence at the North Esk Rowing club annual dinner and presentation night provided an opportunity for us to recognise the efforts put in by Dragon members.
Finally, I would like to thank members for becoming involved in the life of the club in whatever way has been possible you have all contributed to the promotion of Dragon Boating in Northern Tasmania.
