Dragon paddlers bring home medals

Four Launceston dragon boat paddlers have returned home after a successful Pan Pac Masters Games on the Gold Coast.

Paul Bird, Paul and Jean Van Nynanten and Kim Pinner joined paddlers from the Derwent Storm teams to make sure Tasmania was represented at the games.

Paul Bird received a gold medal for his part in the over 60 years great grand masters event and Jean Van Nynanten was granted her wish with a gold and silver medal.

Van Nynanten was determined to do well in memory of Dragons Abreast president Sue King, who passed away last month.

She won gold in the 500 metres all cancer survivors team race and took the silver medal in the 300-metre race.

Derwent Storm teams also set records in their 200m and 500m races over the Pan Pac competition.
