The AGM was held on November 20th with a great attendance, thank you all. A minute’s silence was observed for Sue King, our friend and past President, sadly lost to us last month.
Thanks Mandy Forteath, for taking over the role of Chairperson, while Merran Thurley rocked at the Silverdome with Sir Elton.
Many many thanks to all the hard working committee for the past year, and previous years, because without your work and dedication, this Club simply would not be able to exist. Merran is our new President, and yes, she did agree before she set off for the Silverdome. Beth Sowter is the president of Vice, and Jean Van Nynanten continues as our very conscientious Secretary. Wilma Ashby is our new Treasurer, and we extend absolute thanks to Angela Medwin who has done an excellent job as Treasurer for the past few years.
Committee members : Karyn Meyman, Paul Van Nynanten, Ellen Bird, Mary Farr, Mary-Ann Cook, Ros Lewis, thank you all.
Our committee meetings are open to all members soyou don’t have to be on the Committee to attend. We welcome all ideas and support from all members.
Tuesday evening paddle will be a lighter paddle than the Thursday evening paddle, all NEDBC members welcome to both.
Due to so many wanting to paddle on Saturday we will have TWO Saturday paddles. NOTE NEW TIMES: 8.45 for 9.00am for harder paddle, and 9.45 for 10.00 for regular paddle. If room in boat you can do both paddles.
We now have a fin-flag with the Tittilater dragon on it, to take out to all our events, plus a flag to fly off the front of the boat when she doesn’t have her head on. The larger flag for the NERC flagpole is still being made. All of these were made possible with the donation from Riverside High students. As a thank you we gave them the paddle of their lives up the river, then up the Gorge. Great paddle, thanks Paul.
Looking forward to the Christmas Party at Wilma and Gary’s home on Sunday December 9th at 11am. BYO meat and drinks, and let Wilma know whether you can do a salad or a dessert to share.
The Dragon Boats at the Deloraine Craft Fair created a great atmosphere and gave paddlers a wonderful day on the Meander River.
Our evening paddles have been getting full boats which has been fantastic.
