Riverside High School paddle

On 17 November 2012, Dragons Abreast Northern Tasmania Inc (DANTI) invited Riverside High School students to come and try dragon boat paddling. On a fantastic spring morning some students and a teacher, after a briefing session, went out on the dragon boat and paddled up to the Cataract Gorge and on the North Esk River with our marvellous crew.

Riverside High School students and teacher joined us on Saturday 17th November for their day out on the water. Students from the school had presented DANTI in 2011 with a donation, and we were so pleased to be able to take them out for a paddle on a beautiful sunny morning.

Paul Van worked us all hard, and for first time paddlers, all 10 visitors showed amazing talent, keeping in time, getting those arms up, doing grunt starts, racing starts and several practice races between bridges. They were a happy, laughing bunch of young people and a delight to take out in the boat.

Thank you Riverside High. The flag in the photo is one of the three new flags DANTI has purchased from the donation given by the students.
